AIR COMPRESSORS INTERCHANGEABLE??

My compressor recently went out on my A/C and I was told the cost of the new compressor is about 450.00 for model H29B35UABCA Bristol. The quote came from a friend of a friend who is a refrigeration specialist and works for a reputable A/C company. He stated no charge for labor but does have to charge for new freon, etc. I want to call around to see if I can find a compatible compressor for less (and have him pick it up, as I am told only a licensed specialist can buy compressors) before I fork over 450.00+. My house is up for sale and I need something until I move in 30 days...is there a compatible compressor that may cost less??

HOT IN ARIZONA.

Since cost is the only concern, find a parts house that handles Goodman. They are the low price leader. Either that, or call some AC companies, and see if they have a used condensing unit around. Sometimes folks upgrade, and the company keeps the old one. I know a fellow w ho has a rather old two ton condensing unit in his garage, he offered it to me.

If I were you I would hire a retail A/C contractor to replace the compressor. Yes the cost will be more but you will have a warranty.

Most side work that I have seen most customers can not find that person after the work was completed. Think about it they didn't have any profit to cover mistakes.

Stormin Mormon posted for all of us... I don't top post - see either inline or at bottom.

For what? To haul around in the Pinto wagon and slap in some unsuspecting widows house?

Your quoted price is more than fair. Grab the deal and move on.
