how short to cut floor joist ends beyond beam to mitigate effects of cupping?

I'm not a Framer and joist hangers are the norm. But, my understanding is that they must completely overlay the beam to its outer edge (doesn't matter how many sticks make up the beam). Although, I still see anywhere from 3" to 3' of overhang of the beam being practiced.

- Call your or a Building Inspector and see what's common around your area. Personally, I'd go with 3' (can screw-up blocking) and nail or screw all adjacent joists together...not everyone agrees with attachment due to baseless partial collapse or fire-cut issues, I'm a more is more guy. In many cases, site waste or scrap is minimized as much as possible, so they just run wild or long.
