We have an extremely small back yard (condo - ground level) and want to make the best use of every inch of garden area. I have an open area in the fence for access to the yard, about 36" wide (I can make it wider if necessary). I was hoping to build a simple garden bench that was somehow hinged on one side so it could flip up for clear access... like a counter that flips up so you can walk through, then put the counter back down again for use. When flipped up, the bench could either lean agains the fence pillar, or I could have some simple hardware installed so you can secure it to the fence so it won't crash down on you if you bump it while moving stuff in and out.
Anyone have some suggestions on plans that I can alter for this purpose? Or suggestions in general for such a project?
