As fossil-fuel-based global civilization continues its relentless decline t hat has likely already begun, the ways-of-life especially dependent on it a nd on 'empire', and therefore especially vulnerable, like certain areas of architecture, may especially succumb. That said, perhaps it is unsurprising that, in 2008, many participants on this newsgroup dropped off like flies. RIP.
