Electric oscillating fan slow to start, changes speed

I have experienced this problem with 2 fans of different brand. I have a fan in my bedroom that is run at night for cooling while sleeping. The first fan I had ran fine, then eventually I began to notice it was very slow to come up to speed. Eventually, wHenning turned on the fan, I could hear the motor buzz, but the blades would barely move. I then figured the fan was a goner and replaced it with a different, slightly nicer, but not over the top expensive fan. This fan is not exhibiting the same behavior. It I have had it for 3-5 years, I cant be sure. I have 2 other pedestal fans just like this in other rooms in the house that have no problem. So, I'm left wondering if I've had 2 fans go bad, or if there is an issue with the outlet in my bedroom where these fans have been plugged in. Wondering if i need to look for a different type of fan and/or call an electrician to inspect the wiring.
