Izod IndyCar Series team owners A. J. Foyt and Chip Ganassi will be on the same side when the 2012 season kicks off. Each will be a Honda-powered team when IndyCar debuts its new chassis and engine package.
Foyt on Tuesday announced that his organization will stay with Honda for next season. Along with Ganassi, they are the first two teams to announce for Honda, though another is expected to make a similar announcement soon.
Ganassi will have a four-car team, Foyt just one for now. Another car could materialize, Foyt said.
Foyt said he chose Honda because of its reliability as the recent sole supplier of Indy-car engines.
Team Penske is so far the only team to choose Chevrolet. Engine supplier Lotus hasn't announced a team, although it figures to be KV Racing Technology, which has a technical alliance and receives Lotus sponsorship for its three-car operation
