It comes with a 220 motor Does anyone know anything about this machine or even how much I should be thinking about paying for it it has I beleive 14 speeds. I have never owned a lathe before so an not sure what I should be looking for hope that you may be able to shed some light on this subject

From what I've seen of Poitras I'll bet the lathe is substantial, maybe substantial enough to never need another, at least in this case not anything longer.
Price? Without a picture it would be hard to guess. As an aside a Powermatic 90 or the heavy-Duty Delta lathes go for around a grand used. That's not to say the Poitras will compare (actually, reverse that). You needn't go in guns a blazing. Find out what the current owner wants, weigh that against what you are willing to spend and go from there.
