Servicing a shower mixer

We have a simple non thermostatic mixer (Brittania - St James). This has a chrome pipe feed to an overhanging fixed head.

This has a simple lever - pull out the lever to regulate flow - turn left or right for hot/cold mix.

In the past few weeks, I've noticed the mixer won't turn off fully, i.e. there's a constant drip.

So my question - Is it easy to service this type of mixer ? Can I take it to bits and easily change a washer ?

I don't want to dismantle it and find I cant get it back together, then have to be without a shower, while I get a new one.

Thanks

Chris

Have a shower just before you start...

It is most likely to be a standard ceramic cartridge, the same as in a mono= bloc kitchen tap. Easy enough to get replacements on eBay or from a plumber= s' merchant, and easy to change. There are a few different types though, so= you'd need to get the old one out first. It should go back in once you've = had a look at it, while you get the new one.
