pimms alternative

Anyone know of cheaper versions of pimms? (aldi, etc) I'm sure it was mentioned on this group a few years ago. Simon.

Austin's.

It should be in stock at your local Aldi, but not for long. ;-)

You could make up some tinto de verano (summer wine). Basically it's a bottle of cheap red, with added "fizz" - lemonade would do, or a mixture of sprite & soda water. Slap in some fruit and serve cold.

DIY?

Passable alternative:

Tall glass, 1 measure gin, 1 measure sweet vermouth, lemonade, fruit.

WD40 with a 7-Up mixer. Tastes better as well (hic).

Oh don't give me none more of that Old Janx Spirit, No, don't you give me none more of that Old Janx Spirit, For my head will fly, my tongue will lie, my eyes will fry and I may die, Won't you pour me one more of that sinful Old Janx Spirit

Sangria is also a passable alternative to Pimm's. Some people actually prefer it. However, Austin's tastes more like Pimm's than Sangria does.

There is also Sainsburys 'Pitchers' which is pretty much identical.

I got a bottle last night. About same alc as Pimm's but less flavour so you have to have it twice as strong ! Along with a bottle of "Southern Belle". It's giving me some southern comfort ! The Sainsburys Pitcher's is not much cheaper than pimms. Simon.

There used to be big sweetie jars full of little brown boiled sweetlets like bearing balls. Dissolve then in water; tastes just the same.
