Painting (spraying) a light switch

I need to spray paint a light switch so it matches other ones in the area. Basically, I have replaced all light switches and sockets in the house from the standard white to modern black nickel round edge types. The problem is, I have an architrave switch for the downstairs cloakroom which I cannot get in black nickel. I am now thinking about painting the switch. Has anyone on here ever seen / done this?

I've seen plenty switches and sockets with paint on them. ;-)

Hard plastic like that takes paint normally. But of course it won't be terribly durable on the actual rocker.

Years ago. The paint always chips in time, so generally its best to avoid doing this wherever possible. If you dont mind respraying it another day then go for it. Definitely lightly sand the plastic to improve the key, this really helps.

Since then I found out about vinyl dye. If this works with your plastic, it sinks into the surface, and makes a permanent job.
