OT: Anyone know about mattress sheet dimensions?

We've ordered a 'small double' bed (4 ft, 120 cm) for a smallish bedroom with awkwardly situated furniture. We are now trying to get our heads around the complications of ordering fitted sheets.

Most sheets we've seen after some hours of web research appear to be 26 cm in depth. Our mattress is apparently 28/29 cm according to the store, so wouldn't fit. This doesn't seem to be related to the bed width because even the standard double and larger Queen/King sizes of fitted sheets also seem to be have this 26 cm depth. Yet virtually all the beds we studied in the store seemed 28 cm or thereabouts, so called 'high lofted'.

Is there anyone here who understands this sort of thing please, or who can point us to a store or web site likely to stock 'high lofted' fitted sheets? And if these deeper mattresses are so popular, why aren't the sheets more widely available? John Lewis had only one option when we phoned (one type in one colour). And online we saw none at M&S or several other sites.

Every sheet we've ever bought has fitted our 'high lofted' mattresses without issue so I wouldn't be too concerned about the depth of your mattress and what depth sheet is apparently available.
