In praise of Bosch AXT Rapid 2200 Garden Shredder.

Hi all,

Just a bit of positive feedback re the Bosch AXT Rapid 2200 Electric Garden Shredder.

Helping a mate with the remains of a conifer, crab apple and half a hawthorn trees and the thing diced it's way though most of it with reasonable ease.

The conifer was probably the best as the brush was fairly straight and as long as the thickest end was no more than about 25mm diameter would often self / gravity feet (and it would fill one of the thin green garden bags with handles to breaking point pretty quickly).

The Apple was more tricky simply because the shape of the brush was more gnarly so you had to thread it in most of the time.

The hawthorn was between the two and as long as you snapped the bigger side shoots against the main limb a(and kept away from the thorns whilst so doing) it took it all including all the greenery / berries(?) with ease.

Oh, there was also a fair bit of ivy amongst all of it and it took all but the bigger equally easily (although some of it was quite dry so sounded more 'woody than the greener stuff).

The blade (£15) is reversible and I did turn it over after about 8 hours use and you could notice the difference but with a touch up with a diamond pad has both sets all sharp again.

Quiet but not silent (especially when cutting the more woody bits) but hardly seemed to falter. If it did get overloaded it automatically shuts off (instantly reset able).

Easy to open to clear jams (hardly ever needed to) or clean out (end of the day).

All in all and so far I think it's a neat bit of kit as a general purpose solution.

No connection etc.

Cheers, T i m
