He tries I won't have it from the senile one.

The only place for the senile one.

bring into it a tool you smack with a hammer.

The senility is buying any wood in a DIY store, dribble.

An Impact Driver that you hit the end with a hammer, what's so difficult about that.

The senile one is digging a deeper ditch for himself. I hope he keeps going until it falls in. he is repeating what we have just told him and what he has read from the links. Sad isn't it.

You had to, as you didn't know, along with Essex Rummy.

Basket weaving in the common room. They must stink of spit and dribble.

That is correct. And an Impact Driver is a power tool.

Don't confuse him. He hits the end of a power tool with a hammer.

If you want to call

I repeat "that's what the manufactures call them". So best you think up a DIY name Or thingie for them so that "the vast majority of others replying to this thread will" have a clue.

Yes you've got that bit right

But it a tool that has been specifically made for screw fixing, in operation they are quite different from an air Impact Wrench or indeed your 12v wrench for wheel nuts. I have used these tools, have you ?

Richard Cranium using tools? You have got a hope. The home will not allow him near anything sharp.

Well perhaps you should write to DeWALT Makita Metabo Hitachi Panasonic Bosch etc And inform them that you, Dave Plowman long time tool expert on UK D-I-Y disagree with the description they have used for this tool, and inform them in the strongest possible terms that any fool knows that an Impact Driver is something you whack on the end with a hammer.

The message from "Mark" contains these words:

But have you used an impact driver? The sort which many of us here have had for half a lifetime (or longer).

yes both types.. have you ? :-)

Ask a question like that to them. Are you serious? They are founder members of the uk.d-i-y nutball association.

I've never been in any doubt about anything other than the name.

How are they different in operation? They have a different chuck, true.

No. Nor do I feel the need for one. I've never had problems driving in any type of screw into anything. For pro use in a specialised field they may well be wonderful. But this is a DIY group, and there's many tools I'd want long before one of those.

It seems to worry you more than me. Perhaps you should write to them and stop all the tool catalogues calling a *proper* impact driver an impact driver?

Reply to
Dave Plowman (News)

Right. So you send the lad down to the van to get one. How would you describe to him *which* one?

This caber tossing fool; senile and it shows is confused about an Impact Driver hitting this electric tool very sharp blows With hammers? crow-bars? who knows?
