Cleaning wood doors

Just bought some wooden garage doors off Ebay (brand new but described as slight seconds and I think I remember it described as Swedish Redwood but can't be sure) and at some point, either in the timberyard or the workshop, someone has walked over them and left bootprints on the wood.

It's not coming off just by rubbing with a cloth so what's the best way? We're going to be using Sikkens rather than paint so they have to come off or they'll be visible through the Sikkens presumably.

TIA

Steel wool is probably better as it won't leave scratches. I use it to take dirty marks off briwaxed doors where the kids don't use the handles/fingerplates. Use 0000-0000
