Central heating noisy

Don't know if the boiler is finally going. It's started making a lot of noise when it's on. It used to only make the noise when the radiators were on and then was quiet when the hot water was on (or when both were on). I believe this was due to the cooling effect in the boiler of the hot water system (after asking this question here sometime in the last year). The whole system was cleaned out and inhibitor put in earlier on but maybe it's getting time to replace it. However apart form the noise the radiators are warm and the waters hot so I don't know.

What do you think? Is the noise a sign of it being on it's last legs?

One thing I've noticed with my new closed system is that as the air comes out and the pressure drops (after a new complete filling) the noise goes up. Simple fix is to top it up and let the air out, obviously that's important anyway, but the noise reminded me.

If it's 'kettling' - sounds like a kettle boiling, maybe even clanking - then put something like sentinel boiler noise reducer in the system and give it a few weeks to see if that helps.

Thanks - I'll give it a go.

Try turning up the speed of your pump.
