I wasn't talking about the "two sensors" rule, which makes some sense, although it's another step towards "no attendance at domestic premises" which will come. I was talking about the "microphone or CCTV" nonsense.

It would be, if it weren't the thin end of a wedge.

Not exactly if it's a spider causing problems but, monitored systems that get police response must have confirmation activation before the police are called to attend. The confirmation must be from a different detection device or the same detector but only after it has fully reset itself automatically as it should if working properly.

Thats the reasoning behind the APCO regulations regarding attendance at sounding alarms. If it ain't monitored and have the two independant triggers in sequence in correct time relationship and hasn't had more the X false alarms in the last Y months then the Police are not going to dash around. Under these conditions it's reasonably sure that there actually is an intruder, legitmate or otherwise.

So the Police don't waste their time dashing round to someones =A399 wireless (or badly installed wired) jobbie every time it falses.
