A DIY rule to remember...

When knocking down a garage, remember to remove the roof before taking the walls down.

Stupid "builder" is knocking down the wall of a garage to make room for an extension, and would you believe it, the roof falls down, takes the remainder of the wall with it and pins idiot "builder" underneath, leaving his left leg "hanging by a piece of string" and almost needing amputation.

What can I say. another good one is that climbing on an asbestos roof that has been up for more than ten years is not best practice. several people have fallen through as the sheet has gone brittle.

I dunno, looking at the video, I don't think he was all that daft - hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Certainly much less deserving of an honorary Darwin award than those two muppets in another recent thread who were demolishing a 10-storey concrete grain silo with a sledge hammer, anyway

Surely the first rule of any "demolition job" done by a man knocking out bricks with a crowbar, is that you work from the top, down?

Although he did mention something that sounded a little contrived about why it was being filmed, I wonder if him and his mate thought they'd get some mileage out of a video of a roof collapsing, and things went a bit wrong?

IIRC it was just filmed by the customer, ie the owner of the garage: not unusual
