Bug Killer....What's best?

So far I have been able to keep most of the spiders/bugs out of the house. But they seem to be winning the war. I have tried sprays and granular from places like Home Depot.
What is the best thing for spreading around outside the house and garage? I don't have any pets or kids. What do professionals use?

I spray Trizaiacide around the foundation every spring and a couple times during the summer. Seems to work quite well. Keep your cellar CLEAN. Keep food particles off the floor. Eliminate places they like to live with foam insulation. I had to foam my foundation between it and the sill because there was a space for bugs to enter. If you have rotting cellar window frames, replace them with vinyl replacements. My problem now is where in hell are the flies coming in from? Every time we get a warm day a couple flies come in from somewhere and it's not my new vinyl windows.

Killing the spiders is most of your problem right there. The rest of it is eliminating the food source(s) for the other bugs.

Where do you live? In the desert here I use Sevn Dust and/or Boric Acid powder.
It helps control Black Widows (huge ones).

Go to your county extension service, take the restricted use pesticide course, get the license, and then you can buy the same stuff the professionals use.

I've been buying some stuff at HDepot that comes in a small purple bottle, just a few ounces, and it is supposed to make 2 gallons or so. I mix it with maybe 1.4 gallons of water and it seems to work really well. About $7. I don't seem to have any on hand or I'd tell you the actual name.

Ortho Home Defense works for me. I live in a heavily wooded area, lots of Wolf and garden spiders and centapedes. I usually spray the foundation inside and out. I used Terro Spider Killer inside of my detached garage.

I wish I remembered what the pro's used before I bought this place. I had the name but lost it, it was something I could buy without a license. It killed insects but specifically did not kill the multitude of lizards. (lizards are good here) I sprayed once in spring and that whole summer there were hardly any lizards. I used the wrong stuff. :-(
