I'm planning a 60 inch round dining table, expandable with a leaf or 2 in the middle. I see a variety of slides available. Any specific recommendations for a particular brand, and if so, why? Thanks...

Try to find a copy of Tage Frids _third_ book - the one on furniture design. It's not a great book, but it does have a good workbench plan and an excellent chapter on a great many ways to arrange expanding tables.
BTW - Third volume, usually the second book. The first two volumes are bound together in most editions. The first book is worth buying, the second book worth borrowing from the library.
