Ok folks -
Thanks to Swingman (who when you search for "Cabinets" on the newsgroups - you'll find tons of his knowledge) for your detailed advice -- and to Morris, Nancy and others for encouragement and "tough love."
Pulling the trigger this weekend - I'll be getting 2 sheets of A-C'ish 3/4" alder plywood for the walls and floor, and 1 sheet A-C 1/4" for the back. Also, I'll be getting quite a bit of solid stock for the face frame.
Question is - I talked to the little woman about Swingman's plywood endpanel. Sounds great to me, but she's thinking beaded board! I was thinking 1/2" thick slats of solid stock shiplap w/ a beading bit... I guess I'd just make the standard 1/4" lip on the outside edge of the faceframe
3/4" to accomidate the shiplap?Other than the endpanel - I think all systems are go.
If it happens, there will be pictures and maybe a narrative on Monday. /snicker.
Thanks again. You guys are the best!

By far, the best advice in this thread. "Just Do It" never had a more appropriate context.
I never have enough cabinets in the garage or shop...

Thank you for the kind words, sir. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - Anyone who is interested in doing the job right, who delights in taking pride in their work, and who wants to gain the confidence to get the job done, simply can't go wrong with your method of fabricating kitchen (and other) cabinets.
Thanks for sharing the knowledge!
