Used with a bar clamp. Say the bar clamp is clamping a glued up pane. Thispiece lets you put presure at points accross panel to keep it level. Couldalso make a banding clamp where short bar clamp clamps against on edge of apanel or board and this piece clamps against the edge to attache solidmolding, etc. Lastly with many of these and many bar clamps and somecldrons - coul dbe set up as veneer press.

It is one head of a multiple head bar clamp that relied on a single piece of flat bar steel to hold long sheets or faces against a long surface. Imagine 50 of these in a row on one long 3"x1/4" ribbon of steel.
