Oneida cyclone retrofit - External cartridge vs Tube filters ?

4 years ago I purchased a 1.5hp Oneida with the @*#&$* internal filter cartridge. System works great! Cleaning is a royal PITA!

I am planning to retrofit it for either an external cartridge or a plenum and tubes.

Any recommendations on the two options?

Has anyone on here done the retrofit?
