Zipper repair

Sep 24, 2004 3 Replies

Hi

A bag was damaged in airline transit, and I'd like to repair it.

The damage is that the pullers on the zipper have been twisted, and have fractured and detached. They were only a light alloy, when steel would have been better.

Anyhow, like many zippers there is a little 'tunnel' on the part which actually joins/releases the two toothed sets. I could probably fit in a new puller if I eased it open and had some pullers.

Anyone know where I might get a couple of pullers, and any tips/tricks for getting them on?

Cheers IanC

A small key ring is a useful substitute.

a sewing shop that sells zips, or scrap clothing.

Hein Gericke (a national chain of motorcycle clothing and accesory shops) sell spare zip pullers for their clothing so you might find a suitable puller.
