Which Makita cordless jigsaw?

If you need the longest possible run time from a cordless device, then look at the brushless model. However will be more expensive than the "normal" one.

Possibly not - the newest might be the G series one which is a different battery platform.

To be fair you will get pretty decent run time out of the normal one anyway, so unless you really need the most life per battery (rather than say just having an extra battery or buying a 5 or 6Ah battery rather than say a 3Ah one), you would probably be plenty happy with the normal one.

I've got both a cordless jigsaw and cordless circular saw. The battery life on the jigsaw is rarely a problem given the sort of work it is best at. It is on the circular saw. ;-)

Are you sure that its the newest? I've had my G series cordless drill for some time. The batteries (18V 1.5A) for the G series seemed to priced as if they were going out of fashion and difficult to get.

G series 18V 1.3Ah or 1.5 Ah batteries are £33+

LXT batteries are around £21 for 18V 4 Ahr

ISTR the range was introduced in about 2016 - so fairly recent if my memory is correct.

Thanks John, I've always had the standard type grip before. The body grip option looks interesting but where's the trigger?

I have never tried a body grip saw before, but know that some swear by them.

I like the way they have done the pommel on top so that its right over the blade centreline - it looks like it spins round that point quite nicely, and also makes two handed operation look easier.

I would be interested to hear a report of how it works if you go for one.

I have the 4351FCT, which is the mains "barrel" type with rear rather than top handle, looks like the DJV181Z is the battery equivalent
