Where to get breathable membrane for insulation under floors?

Aug 01, 2003 6 Replies

I want to insulate a floating floor which is currently just joists and floorboards. part of that required putting in a reathable membrane to hold the insulation in place. I cant seem to find breathable membranes in any supplier, any ideas?

Cheers

I used garden netting from the garden centre to hold loft insulation in place under my floors.

Or weed control fabric.

But netting is going to be cheaper.

I like the idea of netting, but doesnt stop the draughts :-/ I guess if I'm packing in the insulation it doesnt matter a whole bunch.

Will check out the tyvek though :)

Thanks guys

Use a silicon gun to seal the floor gaps. easy.

How about some gardening sheet to suppress / control weeds - comes in black, looks like fibreglass (but isn't) sheet and is porous... and probably pretty cheap
