when wallpaper paste doesn't work ....

We've repapered the bedroom with a blown/expanded vinyl paper and then emulsioned. Where the paper abutts the window frame it hasn't stuck down in places. There is a thin bead of some sort of sealant from when the windows were replaced last year. I suspect where it isn't sticking the bead of sealant is thicker.

I've tried some extra paste but the paper just pops back up again. Any recommendations for an adhesive to use instead of wall paper paste? A web search hasn't (yet) thrown up any suggestions.

So you want a 'silicone or acrylic sealant' to 'paper' glue.

Hmm.

Rummages through canyons of mind.

IF its an acrylic sealant PVA glue will work.

For silicone you are in trouble. Almost nothing sticks to silicone, which is why I hate the stuff

What *might* work is a copydex type water based latex glue. Some specialised super glues also work

Another option is to remove the damned silicone sealant with a sharp knife and then use an acrylic sealant like decorators caulk and slap the paper on that

If PVA can work the trick is to apply the PVA but let it get to the tacky stage before attempting to get the wallpaper to stick back.

It's similar to using wallpaper paste to stick back paper that can absorb the paste. Apply the paste but don't stick it back for, say, 10 minutes to allow the paper to soak up the glue. Perhaps using a second application before finally sticking the paper back.

Maybe

Thanks for the comments. I'll try PVA - it that doesn't work I'll have to repaper and deal with the beads of sealant.
