Weird lugs on back of TV socket

Apr 17, 2015 3 Replies

OK, bought a couple of new screened TV-FM diplexed socket outlets for my distribution system.

However, there are these weird spikey lugs (for want of a better description) that stick out either side of it, that serve no apparent purpose.

So, any ideas what these are for?

They are for a European modular system. Cut them off if you like.

Probably easier just to unscrew them, judging by the photo.

It's a universal one designed to go into both circular Euro and square UK backboxes.

When fitting in a Euro backbox, as you tighten the lug screws, the lugs grip the backbox and pull the faceplate backward flush with the wall.
