Wasn't the O2 roof only given a 25 year lifespan anyway ?

"In contrast to traditional roofing membrane materials that would require frequent replacement, tests prove that SHEERFILL Architectural Membranes provide up to 25 years or more of reliable service. There is no relaxation of the re-tensioned membrane from its original shape, even after years of withstanding high live loads, such as heavy snows and high winds. This keeps maintenance costs low, not requiring retensioning of the membrane"

The website does mention a roof installed in 1973 in California that is still up. Not much wind and rain there, but lots of strong UV light.

Actually it says "up to 25 years or more". So that covers anything from zero to 25 years, and anything from 25 years to infinity - in other words, completely meaningless.

Excellent design for that location where I believe it would be impossible to sink foundations for a 'proper' building.
