My warmflow oil boiler boiler, vented with header tank in loft locked out today had to call in emergency heating service . He reset the thermostat lock out. The circulation pump seemed to be ok he turned it up to 3 from 1 and bled it but seemed ok. No obvious reason for lock out , any ideas?

tired control stat? Had you turned it up to flat out in the hope it would heat the house better in the present conditions?
Burner lockout or safety overheat thermosat tripped? Two seperate things, with different possibilties as to causes.
High Limit thermostat reset , all else was fine. No air in the circulation pump, oil level fine. When he pushed the reset the burner fired immediately. The thermostat was set at 2 on the 1 to 5 dial. The boiler fired ok this morning.
