Correlation does not imply causation.
IIRC Edison aimed for 100V across the filament and added 10% to that to allow for losses in the wiring so the generators were set at 110V.

Spare a thought for the Japanese who have 50 Hz from Tokyo to the east and 60Hz to the West. If that isn't the spur for the development of efficient (and cheap) HVDC links, then I don't know what is.
And Guyana is converting from 50Hz to 60Hz
Liberia and North Korea apparently are dual-frequency too.

Oh dear. More pie in the sky s*it. When will arts graduates understand that not only does there need to be a need for a product, but it also has to be technically feasible and not use expensive stuff if its going to be cheap.
It's as if they think that engineers hadn't thought of all this stuff already.
Well it's just magic to them. Surprised there aren't more calls to use water in IC engines instead of petrol. After all, they're both liquids, aren't they?
