Vaillant boilers

I moved into my property approx 2 years ago, and had a Vaillant boiler fitted. Middle of last year, just after summer holidays the boiler started to go wrong, now I cannot have the heating on and run hot water at the same time and vice versa. Basically if I have little or no heating on i can run hot water. If I choose to have hot water running I need the heating turned nearly too off, for most of the day/night depending on when I need hot water for to have a shower/bath. Sometimes if I try to run the water too soon after turning the heating down, the thermostat, will show 75 degree water coming through the pipes, but cold watrer running out of the taps I have asked a few plumbers who wont touch it because its a `vaillant` and `Vaillant want to charge me 175 plus vat just to look at it. Also sometimes it seems to have a mind of its own as the heating will be down, but the Radiators will be burning. Just wondering if anybody had any ideas, for my local plumber Thanks

It would help if you had said which model. I suspect this is a turbomax plus and its the diverter valve playing up. The diverter valve is about £100 (including VAT). When the diverter valve plays up the boiler can also accumulate air (depsite the auto air vent on top of the pump), this makes things even worse.

They are fairly straight forward to exchange if you follow the book.

Don't vaillents have a long guarantee period?

Not long enough... I've not been impressed with my turbomax.

Nice design, lots of clever features, but had all the symptons of a v1.0 product.

I've got a TurboMAX Plus in a property I've just bought- no problems so far, though we don't have a shower installed, so don't know how well it will cope. I'm wondering how I can tell what the power output is (i.e. how to identify which model in the range I have).

I am planning to move it as part of an extension project, but may not be able to due to build regs requirement for a condensing boiler. Would people advise me against going for the EcoMAX Plus model? Is it a robust design for a modern combi condenser?

Well Turbomaxs had 2 years. Some manufactruers are offering 5 most only offer 1 year.

The 5 year ones would be the Baxi Platinum - I've got one going in next week - so I'll let y'all know what it's like!

Cheers dan.
