Under stairs shoe cupboard

May 01, 2006 1 Replies

Hi

When viewing houses last year one of them had divided the under stairs cupboard into a shoe cupboard at the low end, retaining the standard cupboard for the rest of the space, needless to say we were not nosey enough to look at the inside, and bought a different house.

Q. how is this conversion best achieved?

a) Pull out shelve(s)? b) suggested minimum width and height?

Ideas please

Or, you could hinge the tread of a step - like a box lid, if the whole run of the stairs is not continuously carpeted? But it would obviously need to be structually safe....
