under felt eaves ventilation

Right, doing my extension roof soon. Under-felt vented cold roof with over-fascia vents (no soffits), profiled concrete tiles. As I understand it the eaves venting components are fitted as follows: Fascia board (fixed to rafter ends). On top of the fascia board goes the over-fascia vent. Over the vent goes a felt support tray with the felt on top of it. Over this goes the comb filler to fill the profiled tile voids. But, how do you fix this without penetrating the felt ? And you surely can't nail through the comb, felt, felt support tray and over-fascia vents in order to fix it ? Can someone explain how this is done. Cheers, Simon.

Get the all in one over fascia felt support vent with comb, interlocking type. All you do is nail the unit into the rafter at one end only at the top, interlock the next one. Nail at top again one end only and carry on. When completed, nail to every rafter at the top of the units. The underlay sits at the bottom at the back of the comb. Its best to fit the units after lathing and felting but fit one on first to get the correct over hang and up stand of the first course of tiles in to the gutter. Don=92t forget that the fascia board stands up above the rafter foot 2" or 50mm for tilt. The units come in 25mm and 50mm up stand vent. This must be taken into account when fixing the fascia board.

You can get theses units from a roofing supply. Try the SIG group, they have outlets in most areas, they are on Google. You might get them from the larger builders merchant. They go under the description "O F V S" over fascia vent system, manufacture Ubbink. It=92s on Google, Type in Ubbink. Select product selector then roof ventilation then fascia. Make sure you ask for the one that as the comb filler on and the unit is the interlocking type. The interlock is a bit awkward to clip in, its inserted from the top diagonally and pushed in as you go down. It should clip in and fit flush. If it isn=92t flush its not interlocked correct. That=92s why you only fix top one side only to rafter, so you can lift the unit up while connecting the units together.
