TV/HD/Sky Qs

Cite? I'd be rather surprised. Sky are toying with 4k but I don't think they have any routine 4k broadcasts.

SD though? Some of the "lesser" channels are nearer 1 Mbps or below or were.

Which way is that meant to be read?

1) 1 Gbps is not fast enough for decent orgination. 2) 1 Gbps is too fast for distribution to the end user.

SDI is what is used to link cameras to CCUs, CCUs to mixers/EVS, truck output to fibre/sat truck, seems to be a "broadcast signal" to me...

I think the operative word there is "old". HD over analogue is not something I've ever come across on domestic kit. These days the HD linking on domestic kit is done by HDMI.

SCART can carry component as well as baseband video and RGB... I can't find the CENELEC EN 50 049-1:1989 specification document online. It actually orginates from the late '70's. At that time digital TV was not much more than framestores and FX boxes (remember the obsession with sliding images over each other or shrinking zooming etc).

Some TVs still include a SCART and components input. Could be handy if they don't have enough HDMI inputs.

No, some of the HD channels are that low. But they are mpeg4 not mpeg2 AIUI.

So where do I point my aerial to to pickup this SDI signal that is being broadcast?
