TRV question

Hiya

If a rad has cooled, although others in the house are still very hot, why would turning the TRV on and off make it get warm again. I ask because this is what happens with two of mine. Surely if the TRV works on air temperature twiddling the knob shouldn't make a difference but it does.

Another question do I have to have all TRV's on rads except for the one in the hall with the room stat, ie was wondering if I could take the living room one off. I have a 3 week old condensing boiler, old (10 years or so ) rads and new TRVs and lockshields British Gas. Man has rebalanced once after initial balance.

Thanks

Phil

You could have a defective TRV. You might also have a place that is favourable to air locks in the supply to the radiator. When you turn the TRV up fully it can then drag the air around. If the behaviour persists (and after 3 weeks I'd say it already has) then change the TRV, or rather get it changed under warranty.
