Totally OT - trains Euston to Livepool Lime Street

Using my usual National Rail journey planner it shows a direct service all day from Euston to Lime Street, but in the opposite direction all services change at Crewe.

I am wondering WTF?

Unless it is using the timing of my onward journey to decide which service I use.

Having a "nothing is simple" day.

Cheers

Every day is like that here - I thought it was just me.

My son and daughter both commute separately and regularly from either Lime Street or Chester, and moan on the rare occasions they have to change at Crewe.

So unless something has changed recently there are several direct services both ways.

Direct every hour Virgin Trains. Stay away from state run National Rail and use private sector timetables.

Using 20 Feb as a random day I get trains at 47 minutes past every hour from Lime St to Euston.

Logically one would expect there to be return trains otherwise there's going to be a large pile at Lime St!

The National Rail Enquiries site (nationalrail.co.uk ) shows the same trains. And it ain't state run: as the site tells you, it's provided by Train Information Services Ltd. That's a company owned by the train operating companies.
