Torbeck valve filter replacement

Jun 21, 2005 1 Replies

The torbeck valve in my toilet's cistern appears to be blocked with limescale. I think I need to clean the filter - how do I go about disassembling the valve and do I need to shut off the entire flat's water supply before I open up the valve to prevent getting water everywhere?

Thanks.

If you are lucky there may be an inline valve between the cold water supply and the cistern. Otherwise it ,meams shutting off your mains supply. The torbeck valve itself is easy to disassemble. On mine there is a screw cap on the supply side which unscrews so the entire valve can be removed and cleaned.
