Hi - I've been stumped by a fault a Thermecon 50/80 External boiler, and I was out in the rain for over 3 hours trying to fix this sod...
Firstly, there was no oil getting to the pump - checked the usual, fire valve open, isolation valves open etc, all ok. Replaced the solenoid on the pump, no change. Replaced the pump itself, no change. Replaced the tiger loop - YEAH, must have been blocked - now getting oil into the pump (100psi), but still not igniting. Replaced nozzle - YEAH, now igniting. Hang on, went out after 15-20 seconds. Tested optical sensor - still didn't hold the flame. Replaced optical sensor - still no good. Replaced the control box - still same problem.
Phoned Thermecon who said there must be a problem with the optical sensor, as once there is a flame, then it is the sensor which then keeps everything going as long as it can see light. I explained that I had tested it AND replaced it, but they insist that the sensor must be at fault. I am pretty sure it isn't however - ANY IDEAS? I am not an oil person (I am OFTEC registered, just very rarely work on 'em).
