We are currently looking seriously at the Sun Openstorage boxes. Pricewise they are fantastic - and based completely on ZFS under the skin. These (at least, the high end ones we are looking at) have both read and write SSD for exactly the reasons you give. Now, if only Sun could hurry up and get the FC support out of the door... (assuming Sun still exist....)
