Cold draft around the feet tend to make you feel a lot colder. Try placing a thermometer on the floor where you may be sitting.

Higher humidity can make you feel colder too. I have been in -25°C in Canada and not felt cold as the RH is only in low single figures. When I returned to UK it was around 8°C, but around 90% RH as it had been raining, and I I felt a lot colder than I had in Canada.

I should make clear that I was dressed properly for both weather conditions, so that wasn't the reason for the difference. Maybe it was the bright sunshine and blue sky in Canada, and the dull grey sky here, which just made me feel colder!

If the temperature outside has gone down significantly the walls will be cooler (Deelta T) so the nett IR is now increased.

I'm getting that as well. I think it is a mental outlook thing. If you expect it to be warmer (later) outside being a bit cool is not an issue. Looking out on a grey, wet, windy day can drop my self perception of warmth by a good few degrees.

I deliberately went to Thunder Bay one winter because I'd been promised -40°C but in the end the miserable bastards could only deliver -26°C. Where's the fun in that? But I still managed to fulfil the fantasy of flying in to the airport through a snowstorm in a prop-driven plane with just the landing lights below so I forgive them.

-25/26°C is still pretty merciless. I had to keep the camera under my clothes close to my body when I wasn't using it just to keep the batteries from losing all their power and when I wanted to use it I had to remove one of the amazing insulated gloves for a few seconds in order to fire the shutter button. The moment when the camera shut down again after only taking a few frames - and I discovered that my fingers had also shut down at the same time - told me just how bloody cold, bloody cold really is.
