Supplier of brushes for small mains motors - any ideas?

I'm after a couple of brushes for a small 'universal' mains motor (it's a fairly old B&D strimmer), does anyone have any recommendations as to where I might be able to get them.

I'll try B&D spares obviously but I don't hold out much hope on that front.

They are very simple brushes, square section about 4mm x 4mm and probably 8mm or so long originally. I can measure the cross section fairly exactly from the remains.

I wonder what size you can get those 'square' carpenters pencils in...

That type of graphite will not last at all well when used as motor brushes.

Go and look at some others and find a couple that are a bit too big and just carefully file them down to the correct dimensions. As long as the wire connection is still sound, the other end will soon bed down to the shape of the commutator.

Best of luck. George.
