A new sunspot group appeared only briefly this week, on August 7 and 8. It was sunspot 2747, from current cycle 24. Sunspot numbers on Monday and Tuesday were 11 and 12

Am I interpreting this wrongly, or are all the G2 and G3 two-letter calls that are not listed (and there must be a heck of a lot of them) now up for grabs? These will those that have not have been renewed (obviously mostly those belonging to SKs). However, from what I can see, the de-listing only appears to have been done after a considerable time has elapsed - otherwise they are listed as 'Reserved'.

don't be silly Ian why would I want an non age related stupid fake callsign like that?..I have only ever had one callsign ....no class B no MM3 nothing......just an age related GM4DHJ ....... quality

Spot on, Jimbo.

One will be able, as always, to spot the clueless by their lack of CW, very poor technical knowledge (especially about sidebands and sidetones), their ability to clear repeaters of traffic when they appear, and inventions such as a 'trap dipole' that isn't a dipole and has no traps. Wasn't it a modern G2+3 who in the last few years was heard to tell someone on 40m SSB that they were over-deviating?

You couldn't make it up.This is what the new licence scheme has brought

- it makes one think that it was surely dreamed up by simpletons for simpletons.

Unfortunately there's no legal precedent in this country for revoking the licences of those convicted of criminal offences, or those who have been subject to a restraining order.

Indeed. Bringing in such a change would be a very positive move.

In fact, removing the right to hold even a driving licence wouldn't be such a bad idea.

I see Boris is making promises re prison sentences. It will be interesting to see if he makes good on them.

[1] Actually, if he voluntarily calls an election before October I shall suspect him of deliberately letting a remain coalition in.

I don?t think it?ll look voluntary in the way you mean, and by design; I?m

99% sure that BoJo and his depraved team of far-right headbangers are purposefully making a train wreck of the whole thing in order to force Parliament (Labour and other opposition parties, plus the couple dozen sane Tories in the Commons) to intervene to prevent No Deal, allowing him to call a GE in response and portray it as standing up to ?elitist politicians betraying the will of the people?. Boris?s endgame is staying in Number 10, ideally with a majority, and I think it?s clear that the only way he can achieve that is to go turbo-UKIP and out-Farage Farage, but he needs some kind of context as cover first, hence provoking Parliament.
