Source for a small ac motor?

I need a small ac (brushless) motor specifically 12V ac, 1.2 - 3 Watt and about 4 rpm, really slow anyway. It is to turn a coloured disk inside a fibre-optic lamp so making the ends of the fibres change colour. It's not my lamp. I'm repairing it for a friend! Anyone know where I can source such a motor? Thanks.

How about a turntable motor out of a scrap microwave oven. Take a trip to your local council dump.

A perfect match, typically 6rpm. Just chekc it doesnt get hot enough to burn you after a while - shouldnt be a problem, but best check.

But that won't be 12v, will it ? Also I expect it takes a lot more power so as to turn heavy loads.

They aren't usually 12v but the turntable motors from old microwaves are quite useful in this sort of application. You can usually get old microwaves for free but do take care when taking them apart. There is a large capacitor inside that could contain a potentially lethal charge. Usually the capacitor has bleeder resistors across it which renders them harmless quite quickly but the resistors can fail (or not be present). It would be wise to assume that the capacitor is charged and dangerous.
