You're looking at this from the wrong angle. Because governments around the world are totally over-reacting to this, people have no reason not to believe that food producers themselves might not shut down at some point or toilet roll manufacturers. Why shouldn't they.?

As things stand the majority of people who'll ever need hospital beds and ventilators are old people with an existing medical condition, and the people who look after them. Nobody else; as has been repeated ad nauseam. So how do we prevent those people, from getting infected ? By putting "them" in lockdown and ensuring that anyone contacting them is masked up and suited up to the eyballs. Stopping younger people and healthy from meeting in pubs or even football matches and picking up mild infections isn't going to kill off the older people who would need the ventilators. Providing they're properly isolated. This simply doesn'r add up and maybe some people suspect as much and don't trust the politicians to prevent a total shut down.

Basically as someone else has said on here people are going to carry on doing this until they run out of money or space to store the stuff. Or maybe if they see politicians getting a grip,

We live in a consumer society and this is what people are conditioned to do. Not sit at home playing the piano, but going out there and buying things. Anything.

May be you are conditioned to behave irresponsibly, it is clear too many others are, that doesn't mean everyone is, or make it acceptable.

I'm not. Sardines as an oily fish are a very good source of Omega whatsits which are very good for us.

What's ireresponsible about protecting your family from the possible consequences of food manufacturing and imports coming to a total halt ?

You can only call such behaviour irresponible if you;'re able to argue beyond reasonable doubt that such a thing could never happen.

Also tinned pilchards. The cat ate these when I was a kid because they were cheap, now I quite like them with a salad.

I'm waiting for reports of a serious fire in a tower block caused by an overheating electric heater that was surrounded by a mountain of bog rolls.

The house clearance firms are going to be VERY busy in the months ahead. Going to be a lot of bog rolls and tinned baked beans at boot sales I suspect.

They don't know when the 14 days will start as they don't have the symptoms yet.

Tinned Mackerel are good. Obviously fresh is better but....

We stock up on tinned fish in France- the French are very good at tinning food, especially fish, they do some with a subtle lemon flavour which is something of a favourite.

I was behind someone in Aldi today, who had a single bunch of bananas and the cashier removed two of the six bananas. Totally mad. Are they going to remove two pints from a six pint bottle of milk?
