Sebo vacuum cleaner rewire

I am replacing the flex on my Sebo upright vacuum cleaner, due to various (un-named) users trying to chew it up in the cleaner mechanism! There is no earth wire anywhere. The motor is rated at max 1050w, so I assume that I need a 2-core flex of

0.75mm sq. I can buy 3-core flex from B&Q etc but not 2-core. Any ideas where to buy 10m of 2-core, as I don't really want to buy a full reel from a wholesaler? The flex enters the top of the handle, where the brown and blue cores are connected via spade lugs to one side of the switch. The other (load) side of the switch has spade lugs with corresponding brown and blue cores which then form part of the 2-core flex which goes down the inside of the handle to the motor. The switch contains a lamp which lights up when the switch is on. Also connected to the brown (load) terminal is a black core which then goes down the inside of the handle a short distance (about 5cm) and then stops. Any idea what the purpose of this black wire is?

TIA
