When we fitted a wood burner to an old chimney we had a liner fitted but the closure plate has got gaps around the edge because of uneven brickwork, so small amounts of crud keep appearing on top of the stove. Some of the gas are too wide for HT silicone, so what's an acceptable way to seal them? Fire rated foam, perhaps?

There used to be a kind of putty stuff for this job. A bit messy but effective. I guess they make something similar these days. Brian
Think I'd stuff suitable dia fire rope into the gap. That will allow the closure plate to expand/contract due to the temperature variations.
Fire cement may crack and fall out and doesn't it need to get fairly hot (as in flue hot) to cure properly?
