Scot Parl petition: abolish planning permission for on sites up to 1 acre

This is to let people know of the Scottish Parliament petition urging the abolition of planning permission requirements for owner occupiers building accommodation on plots of up to 1 acre.

In other words, people will be allowed to build what they like on their own small plots, to their own design, using whatever materials they choose.

The petition takes about 15 seconds to sign, here:

Um. So, Conglomerate Developers Ltd: a) buy a 1000 acre site, b) register a company called Conglomerate Developers 1 Ltd, c) .. and another one called Conglomerate Developers 2, d) ... and all the way up to Conglomerate Developers 1001 Ltd. e) Divide the 1000 acre site into 1001 equal plots, and sell each plot to one of the sub-companies. f) Each sub-company then pays Conglomerate Developers Ltd to develop their site for them.

Result is that it would abolish planning permission entirely.

Also, "We call on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government" Surely the Scottish Parliament can *tell* the Government what to do - they don't have to ask nicely.

Unless the Scottish Parliament & Government work in a different way than the UK P & G, then with a lot of legislation, the Parliament has already told the Government, "just do what you see fit (within certain parameters)". The Government can then issue Statutory Instruments changing Planning guidance, Building Regulations, Health & Safety regulations, etc. which don't need to be voted on.

1 acre is not a small plot. It's 10+ houses at normal density, or 30+ caravans.

And as the petition is also to remove the need for building control, it could be a towerblock or 100 beds-in-sheds all without any effective form of sanitation.

This sounds like something dreamt up by IMM/Drivel/John Burns-Curtis, if you read the supporting document.
