4" square? I guess the next job will be trellis!
Umm. I have considered redirecting a nearby grapevine. Not quite Tuscany though.
I consider it a few seconds more to get on with other activities. No shortage of exercise here.
Steve Walker laid this down on his screen :
I never completely forget, I always remember there was something I needed to remember - I can just never pin down what it was.
There have even been times when I have set off upstairs for the toilet, been diverted by something and forgotten my main motive for going up.
Maybe.
Or maybe I only have a certain number of steps left in me so I might as well not waste them on anything unproductive?

Not necessarily a great idea as you get older and spend most of the time sitting and don't walk the dog etc.

I do exactly the opposite. Never miss an opportunity to go out to the shed, walk upstairs etc. I perhaps kid myself that any exercise is worthwhile, particularly walking up and down stairs.

I do walk the dog twice daily but, like me, she isn't getting any younger, so we don't walk as far as we used to. I just think walking up and down stairs (20 steps) several times a day must be good for me.
You are not kidding yourself.
I am in cardiac rehab and the number of people who are shocked at how much even a couple of weeks in hospital/at home in bed has buggered up their fitness you would not believe.
*Anything* is better than sitting on front of a computer or vegging out watching TVI've been known to work up a sweat just sanding balsa wood model planes....
The rehab team say that you get more exercise raising your arms than walking, so DIY that requires you to reach up to do it is good, to.
The most important thing is to get heart and lungs up from 'rest' to a fast idle so to speak.
I put things at the foot of the stair and will take them up when I need to go to the toilet. My problem is everything I take up this way ends up in a ever growing pile at the top of the stairs :)
I rarely need to go upstairs but have a special trip this morning to free a poxy pop up waste! The rubber gloves have now had 7 outings. The last use was timber preservative so time for their pension perhaps:-)

Absolutely. I was visiting somebody in hospital the other day and plenty of posters up to that effect.
Anecdotally, I'd agree. Worked out the other day that I walk up the equivalent of Snowdon each week just by going up and down the stairs at home :-)
Snowdon is a thousand metres near as dammit. Assume you have high ceilings at 5m that means you do 200 trips up the stairs every week. nearly 30 a day. About every half hour you're awake.
Are you sure?
(my ceilings are half that, which means I can put things at the top of the stairs from the ground floor!)

c.3m between floors, 4 floors, so top to bottom 9m. Most of the time between 3 floors, say an average of 7.5m 20 times a day.
That's working from home when I'd have at least 10 cups of tea in a day.
