Sack barrow tyre - repair, replace, fill with goo?

Question

I have a very useful sack barrow which is only used now and then and one tyre slowly deflates.

I am trying to decide if I should take the tyre off and test the inner tube, just fill it with goo, or see if I can buy a replacement.

Just had a look and the wheel is held onto the end of the axle with a split pin.

The wheel also seems to be a split rim, as I can see bolts and nuts on either side. So possibly no tyre levers required.

Just need to price up a replacement wheel.

Any guidance as to whether the removal and splitting is a straightforward as it looks?

Replacement inner tubes are readily available. Just remove the nuts and bolts on the tyre rim and the old tube is easily accessible.

I bought a pair of new wheels for £12.85 (price now gone up slightly, other vendors are available):

They were a straight swap with the existing ones. Turned out the hub bearings had rusted so not only did they keep air but they ran much more freely.

At that price hardly worth messing with repairing them with stuff I didn't have.

If you do replace the tube, make sure that there are no nails or thorns protruding on the inside of the tyre - which would puncture the new tube as soon as you inflate it.

I have replaced my wheelbarrow wheel with a wheel with a "puncture-proof" solid tyre. Works fine. You can probably get something similar for your truck.
