You might have noticed that lots of companies that supply solar panels ALSO sell home batteries.
In the summer months we never draw from the grid at peak rate, only at our
7p off-peak rate.Tim
And in winter you are relying on the solar panels n the grid. Oh, they aren't working either. Let's hope it's windy every day.
What I've never seen the sums for is - what would the RoI be like on a domestic battery alone, charged every night on cheap rate and feeding the house during the expensive times... oh wait. that made me go and look, and I found this:
"The results of the model show that the installation of a domestic battery is a profitable investment after accounting for capital costs. However, a domestic scale PV installation is not profitable at current costs." (dated 2023)
